SSD upgrade

I have a few Z600 and one of them needs an SSD upgrade. I used it every day and now have an even greater need for it. Currenly the Z600 is running of the internal RAID 1 with two 2 TB drives and is partitioned with a WIN 10 OS (200GB) and the rest storage. I have remote images of the OS that I created using Windows backup/restore The "rest" is backed up to a Synology NAS. 

 

I have swapped out 6 computers with SSDs and it all went as expected, 4 laptops and 2 desktops. (mostly Dell computers) I use EASEUS TODO to create the image. Thus, hooked up the SSD to a SATA port inside the Z600 and let TODO to do the cloning. It says it is doing it succesfully. Windows Explorer show that all of it is there. 

 

I then reboot and go into the BIOS and set the SSD as the first to boot from and it will not do it but skip down and get the OS from the Simulated SATA (RAID drives) 

 

At this point I need this computer and not interested to corrupt the RAID, lose OS etc etc. 

 

Any help is much appreciated from those that have similar setups.

HP 280 G2 MT Intel BIOS upgrade A0.41 SP85158 causes PC not to POST

Hi All

 

I have just applied SP85158 BIOS A0.41 to fix the Intel Spectre problems

and now the PC fails to POST. I found the only way to boot was to unplug the attached SATA Crucial MX300 SSD drive. Then the HP 280 G2 would POST. There is nothing wrong with the SATA SSD. Put it in a caddie works fine, plugged it in to a laptop works fine, even updated the SSD firmware. Still doesn’t work.

 

After reading through Loading Results HP Desktop PCs - Recovering the BIOS I spent an evening trying Windows key + B. https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-280-g2-microtower-pc/8741823

To find the only firmware it would apply via BIOS recovery (those 8 beeps of fun) was another bug fix post Spectre (A0.35) and still won’t boot from SSD unless it’s in a USB caddy.

 

Anyone else had issues with BIOS A0.41? The previous BIOS A0.27 worked faultlessly. Are HP going to fix this? Not great for 1.5year PC!

Add SSD drive to All-in-One PC?

Hi,

 

I am planning to get HP Pavilion 24-r009na from high street store, but I want also to buy SSD hard drive to install it. Am I able to do it or do I need to ask in store for them in order to do it? I've done it in the past to my laptops, hower not sure if warranty won't be void in this case with HP. Can you please assist?

What is the maximum drive height for a replacement H/D in a HP EliteDesk 800 G3 Desktop Mini PC

What is the maximum drive height in millimeters for a replacement hard drive in a HP EliteDesk 800 G3 Desktop Mini PC. The EliteDesk 800 G3 has a single 2 1/2 inch drive slot but I can't find any information on whether the maximum height is 9mm or 15mm or some other height.

 

I want to install a hard drive bigger than 2 TB but drives bigger than 2TB are 15mm high. The maximum drive size that I can find in a 9mm high drive is only 2TB.

 

I would be grateful if anyone knows the answer. I tried HP Support but they only provided me with the form factor for the drives that ship with new PCs.

T630 Thinupdate Error - Couldn't open WIM file

Brand new and out-of-the-box. I get the same result with a second new unit.

 

Thinupdate image to USB fail.  Kingston DataTraveller, 8Gb.

 

Any insight?

T520 Windows 7 64 Bits deploy problems

Hi Everyone,

 

We begin to sell the ThinClient Solution to our customers and ran into several problems (HPDM, Easy Shell etc..). 

 

Today we are facing a new problem with multiple T520.

 

These T520 were delivered with Windows 7P 64 Bits (14WWETEE601#SABA#DABA).

 

To make a template on HP Device Manager, I wanted to download the latest Windows 7 64 Bits (14WWETFE602) for T520 (trough latest ThinUpdate 2.4.22 tool). So I downloaded this image and copy it on a USB Key. 

 

When I boot on the USB key and follow the step (Yes for Erase..) an licence error is displayed (No licence for this image..).

When I try to deploy it from the HPDM --> Error (details at the bottom)

 

I try the 32 Bits version from the ThinUpdate and no more success... (same errors)

 

The only image that's working is the Win7E 32Bits image present on HP Website (T520 page --> Software and Drivers --> Windows Embedded Standard 7E (32-Bit) --> OPerating System-Enhancements.

On this page i there's the Win7E 32Bits splitted into 3 Part. This image is working but it downgrade my ThinClient to 32Bits and is not at the latest version.

 

So my question are : 

 

1) Where can I find the correct 64Bits image that match with my T520 ThinClient so that i could deploy it from HPDM?

White noise

Hello!

 

I bought new AIO computer, when it starts BIOS there is no white noise, when it starts Windows there it is(

When I press "mute", the noise disappears, when I turn on the sound the white noise appears

I can try to record it if you want.

 

Noise does not depend on the sound level set in the system, even at a value of 1 and at 100%, the noise sounds the same strength

 

I try to install last Realtek driver(6.0.1.8281 Rev.A) from your site to comp- no results

 

When i launch driver pack online- in proposes to upgrade the SST Controller, but i cant and there is error

There is ID of hardware- PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A2F0&CC_040300

 


 

maybe this is the problem ? with this driver ?

 

Or is it a problem in this series AIO ? Could you find the same device and lean your ear against the dynamics when the windows system is running to hear noise ? its very important for me.


I always work in silence and this white noise is very annoying and prevents me from working.

HP EliteDesk 800 G3 RAID1 with SSD

Hey guys,

 

i buyed a EliteDesk 800 G3 and want to customize it. The system should run with a RAID 1 on two SSDs with PCIe or SATA 6G, I prefer PCIe.

 

I have no idea about installing a RAID system yet. I tried to learn from the internet the last week, but now i am very confused. So here are my questions i hope you can answer.

 

 

My idea is to buy a raid controller with PCIe output and two SSDs which are compatible to the controller. Then put the SSDs in the controller and the controller in the PCIe-Input on my mainboard. Following confogure the RAID with the software of my controller.

 

- Is this the right way or is there an other option? Maybe a build-in RAID function or something?

- I read a lot about boot problems with SSDs with PCIe. How can i prevent this problems?

Issues with Z440 and Lynx AES 16e Audio Cards

Hi,

 

For our radio broadcast we previously used Z420 workstations with a Lynx AES 16e Audio Card, where we had no issues.

 

Recently we upgraded some workstations with Z440's (Xeon E5-1620 v4 processors) and also Lynx AES16e Audio cards and now we experiencing some problems.

Sometimes during playoutwe suddenly hear a beep instead of the song playing. Also we often have small drops in the audio.

With a bit of research I saw that a lot of people recommend disabling the C-states (C1E, C3, C6 and Speedstep) in the BIOS. However this is not possible to do in the HP BIOS. How can this be done?

 

Do you maybe can think of another reason why this is happening?

WIN 10 Activation after BIOS Update

I've just taken dleivery of my new Z4 G4.

 

Boot up was fine.

 

Win 10 64 Pro Workstation updated itself.

 

updated the BIOS using the latest version from the support page.

 

then noticed windows will not self activate...error code 0xC004C003...in short wrong product key

 

any help or similar issues with BIOS updates messing up linkage between digital license key and activation???

Support for older PC's

Hi,

 

We are currently running some Z800's and Z600 PC's with Dual processors and 64 GB of RAM. 

 

We are currently going for Cyber Essentials + as a business and one of the requirements is that all of the System's Hardware and Software need to be in support, well in the sense that if there was a security issue with the firmware (similar to the current intel problem) that the vendor would provide a firmware fix for this.

 

I am mainly interested in these model's as they are expensive to replace, but an exhaustive list of machines (workstations and laptops) of what would be included would be fantastic if possible please?

Hp z800 fails to update to Microsoft Windows 1709 update.

Hello.

Everything was running fine while I use windows 10. But the new windows 10 update 1709 fall creators update fails to update every time I try to update my workstation.

I couldn't find any actual BIOS update for z800 wich is for windows 10. Does that mean that Hp z800 has no longer support from you, and can't I run windows 10 on this workstation?

I would be very happy if you could help with that. Because my workstation tries to update every day for several times, since u can't fully cancel updates on windows 10. And that causes force restarts which give me troubles on work.

Can I use ECC 1600 12800 ram with a z220 using an Intel i5-3470 CPU ?

 

Or does it have to be 12800e ram ?

 

Also can I use PC3L 12800e ram ?

 

Or can I use 12800R ECC server ram ?

Unable to Boot to USB or CD

Unable to boot to DVD/CD or USB Thumb Drive.

 

No options to disable or enable Legacy in BIOS (Legacy is on but grayed out).

 

Only UEFI is available.

 

BIOS is updated.

 

PXE boot is disabled.

 

USB device boot is checked.

HP Z640 very very slow performance

I have encountered a similar issue with excel files - some are very large, database files linking with other large files.  I am running Windows 7 with 64bit.    Does anyone have a solution.   My machine has larger than normal RAM (more than 30GB so that isn't the issue, or maybe I do need more?
