Hello HP experts,

I'm just curius if there are other supported CPU for Z400 workstation aside from the listed processors below:

Intel® Xeon® processor
W3503, 2.40 GHz, 4 MB cache, 1066 MHz memory, 4.8GT/s QPI, Dual-Core
Intel Xeon processor W3505, 2.53 GHz, 4 MB cache, 1066 MHz memory, 4.8GT/s QPI, Dual-Core
Intel Xeon processor W3520, 2.66 GHz, 8 MB cache, 1066 MHz memory, 4.8GT/s QPI, Quad-Core, HT, Turbo

I noticed that Z400 and Z600 has Processor Socket :  LGA1366

Does it mean that the supported processors of Z600 will work with Z400 ?

Intel® Xeon® processor1,2 E55043, 2.00 GHz, 4 MB cache, 800 MHz memory, Quad-Core
Intel Xeon processor1,2 E55063, 2.13 GHz, 4 MB cache, 800 MHz memory, Quad-Core
Intel Xeon processor1,2 E55203, 2.26 GHz, 8 MB cache, 1066 MHz memory, Quad-Core

Does it mean that I can use any CPU processor as long as its compatible with LGA 1366 or what they called Socket B?

Z420 Fatal Error 928

I just purchased a refurbished z420 system, and whenever it goes into sleep mode I get the following error: 928- Fatal PCIe Error. PCIe Error detected slot 2 completion timeout.

I have researched it before and all replies has said to update the BIOS and chipset driver. The BIOS is up to date and I cannot find the chipset driver.

Is there anything else that I need to possibly investigate in regards to this?

Is the power connector labeled "P6" used for a video card?

Hi again!

I want to add a video card to my HP Z230 i7 4790 (tower).

I know it has a 400 watt supply so any of the cards I am thinking about will work (example 1050 Ti is about 75 watts).

I see some of the cards have a 6 pin connector for extra power (some have a 6 and an 8 ... I know these draw too much power for my unit).

I see a connector in my computer that is not used.  It has 6 pins and it is labeled "P6".

Is this connector for a PCI-E video card or for some other use?

Thanks .... Mike

Spectre/Meltdown Bios Patching

Hello,

I am trying to install the BIOS Patchs to mitigate the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilites and I have hit a snag.

I have tried both a remote install and local install and both attempts fail the same way.  The process gets to the point where is should be flashing the new BIOS but it errors out (See highlighted).  It fails to clear the existing BIOS and fails the update.  However, the process completes without implying that it failed.  I only discovered that they were failing when I went to verify the installed BIOS version.  Anyone have a suggestion on how to get around this failing?

Thanks,

Win10 IoT to ThinPro 6.2 using HPDM

Hi Everyone,

So i'm having an issue with this specific scenario. I've called HP Support several times but I recieved both answers that it "will" and "will not" work.

We have 150+ t630's with Win10 IoT already deployed. We're testing the ThinPro 6.2 and considering deployment (700mb compared to 8GB Smiley Happy , updates, etc.) but wonder if it's possible to use HPDM to deploy ThinPro over Win10 IoT?

Tried "Deploy an image to devices with PXE service" task but recieved error:

2018-03-05 15:47:27	[Error Details]: Deploy image with PXE service using repository Master Repository.
Failed to download TC730_LinuxImage6.2.dd.gz from /Repository/Images/HPTCImage_ThinPro6.2.
Failed to execute PXEDeploy task.
ErrorCode: 1074176, Error Info: ..\..\Task\common\PXETask.cpp@123:	HPDM Does Not Support PXE Imaging since WES7.

The message "HPDM does not support PXE Imaging since WES7" means ThinPro6.2 > Win10 IoT is not supported? Will it ever be supported? I would rather not reimage 150+ devices by manual USB.

Already updated HPDM to SP8, so current version is 4.7.3610.27553.

TIA!!

win10: usb install/disc install/media tool... nothing works -_-

Hello everybody,

I just bought a used HP Z820 (intel c602) that works fine but still runs win7 64 and i wanted to upgrade to win10.

The system runs on x2 xeon 2680v2 processors, 64Gb ECC ram, quadro k5000. System is installed on an ssd.

I started downloading the windows media tool and trying upgrading from that app. Continue to freeze on the "Making sure.." screen. After reading plenty of topics on this issue without a working solution (in my case) i decided to try with the USB boot solution.

Again, another problem. As soon as the usb starts the process it gives me an error "missing drivers of a peripheral..". Same thing, i found that a lot of people faced the same problem and none of the solutions seems to work for me.

I started again, this time with the disc installation, so I used the windows media tool to build an iso and the burn it on a dvd.

Tryied to select the USB/CD boot from the startup menu... nothing. Always boots win7.

Now i finished the options and don't know what else to try.

I've enabled, disabled uefi, legacy plenty times with no change in results.

Please help me, next step will be to bring the system to a computer shop.

Thank you in advance

Z440 Video Editing Issues with Nvidia Quadro M4000

$

We purchased this workstation about 8 months ago for the purpose of 4K video editing and animation. It has an NVidia Quadro M4000 graphics card with 3 displayports, 3 of which are currently hooked up to monitors. Ever since we started editing 4K footage shot with a Panasonic EVA-1, particularly in a 1080 timeline for the purpose of punching in, we've been having a variety of glitches that I cannot figure out.

Some outputs have the audio about 30 seconds out of sync, no matter how I render the file.

When I try to watch the timeline without it being rendered, the video blows up to about 200% while it plays, then goes back to normal when it's stopped.

The biggest and worst glitch happens at random during editing. All three screens go black for 3 seconds, then they come back, only now the audio is playing through one of the monitors and not the speakers, activating the Nvidia card for audio instead of the default Realtek Audio processor. Then a dialogue box pops up warning me that a preview file is corrupted, along with "Error Code 3." Some projects will then not open at all, whether I open them in Adobe Premiere CC 2017 OR 2018.

I've called HP support and was told it's likely drivers that are causing the glitch. I was told to download the Softpaq Manager, and install the new BIOS in particular along with other drivers. If that didn't work, I was told to uninstall all the Nvidia drivers and reinstall them from the package found at HP.com. I've now performed all of the solutions that were presented to me and have had no luck in correcting the problem. I am at a loss of what else to do, short of a system overhaul or hardware replacement, both of which will cost us valuable editing time.

Advice on purchasing a Z820 (motherboard version)

Hi

I am looking to buy a Z820 on eBay some sellers specify that the machine is a V2 variant however some don't. I have asked a couple of sellers to tell me the boot block date so I could verify the version but they didn't get back to me.

I have been reading around and from what I am understanding is that if the CPU(s) is an E5 2600 V2 Series then that is also an indicator that the motherboard is V2. is that correct?

BIOS will not assign a BAR to Region 1 for GPU device as GPU is requesting 16GB of PCI I/O space

trying to install a Nvidia P100 GPU for CUDA software compute (not for graphics display).  The P100 is a PCIe Gen 3 x16.

The P100 is requesting 16GB PCI I/O memory for mapping BAR Region 1 and it's showing as "Unassigned".  BAR Regions 0 and 2 are showing up as "Assigned" 16MB and 256MB respectively.

I have 32GB of Memory installed in the unit and have updated BIOS to V1.46 (which was latest available on hp support)

How do i get the BIOS to map a 16GB (Giga-Byte!!) BAR1 Region 1 PCI I/O address space.

Please help.

Questions on starting an upgraded Z800

$

In past posts and discussion in this forum, I got lots of advice on processors, SSHDs, cooling for an upgrade of a 2009 Z800. It is the initial version and can only use W55XX processors. I’ve accumulated all the new components and am now ready to put it together and get it into use.

The original machine:

> one E5506 processor, stock cooling

> 3GB ram

> Win XP Professional

> 250GB SATA HDD

> Nvidia Quadro FX380 256GB

> 850 W power supply

Planned upgrade:

> two W5580 processors

> liquid cooling kit

> 48 GB ram

> Win 7 Pro on CD

>Nvidia Quadro 4000 graphics 2000 GB

> Intel 750 series 400 GB PCIe SSD, to be used as boot and applications drive

> the SATA will be kept as a data storage drive

> 1110 W power supply.

I haven’t rebuilt a computer in many years, so I need to get detailed help in updating and configuring BIOS and vBIOS, graphics drivers, etc, and starting up. I hope someone can help me with a basic cook book.

And also, another question: Do I need to do anything to the old machine before changing the components?

Thanks a lot!

z220 CMT - newer GPUs compatibility

$

Hi,

I have recently bought a used z220 CMT workstation, that came from the factory with Win7 64bits Pro installed. Currently the machine is running on Win 10 64 Pro. I've read that some older HP products may have some BIOS troubles when running  some of the newer generations of GPUs (lets say for example a GTX 1050 ti). After reading some posts here it was still not clear if workstations like mine can or cannot support newer video cards.

I also read that ATI's R5XX and Nvidea's GTX 10XX series require UEFI Boot motherbords. My Z220 has the HP 1790 Motherboard with a K51 v01.54 Bios (12/21/2012) and in the boot menu it has some UEFI boot options (DVD, Usb and Network) however my hard drives are only displayed under Legacy Boot Devices. I can't tell if those 3 options on the BIOS Boot Setup are enough to determine if my mobo has UEFI Bios or not.

Is my machine compatible with graphic cards that require UEFI motherboards in order to work?

Thanks.

Can Virtual Machine be enabled on Z210?

$

I am trying to use Genymotion Android emulators which use Oracle Virtual Box technology. When I attempt to start an Android emulator (in Genymotion) , I get a message to the effect that VM-X is disabled in the BIOS and therefore Virtual Box cant startup. My Z210 dates back to 2012.

Has anyone seen this problem and knows what it is about, and more importantly, how to disable the Virtual Machine blockage? Does it have anything to do with the hyperthreading being disabled?

HP EliteDesk 705 G1's BIOS does not see all memory that Windows or CPU-Z sees

$

I recently purchased a new (old stock) HP EliteDesk 705 G1 SFF. It came installed with a total of 8GB of RAM (2 sticks of 4GB each, DDR3L) ... I bought 16GB of additional RAM (2 sticks of 8GB each, DDR3), with the idea of upping it to a total of 24GB of RAM.

I installed the two new 8GB sticks into the two empty slots and the BIOS recognized 12GB (one of the 8GB sticks, one 4GB stick)! I rearranged the sticks in every possible way & combination in the four slots and sometimes only 8GB would be recognized, sometimes 12GB, sometimes 16GB, but never all 24GB.

I know that all four sticks of RAM are operational, and that the ones I purchased conform to what the owner's manual specifies and requires (CAS, latency, speed, etc.) - G.Skill's Value 16GB (2x8GB) 240-pin DDR3-1600 SDRAM (PC3 12800), model F3-1600C11D-16GNT. The BIOS was updated to the latest version available from HP's site - version 2.28 Rev A (L06) from March 7, 2017. The CMOS was also reset without change.

When I go into Windows (7 Pro x64), it reports that it sees 23,536MB of RAM! The CPU-Z utility also sees all four sticks of installed RAM too. It's only the BIOS that reports only 12GB (two slots filled, two slots empty).

Is this a problem with the BIOS that HP needs to fix, or a problem with my specific systemboard? Am I really operating with 24GB of RAM in Windows, or just the 12GB which the BIOS reports?
