HP Z440 Front panel pinpout
Hi!
I use Teradici Tera2 card in a HP Z440.

I want to be able to power off the HP Z440 from my Wyse client.
Teradici Tera2 card have a power-reset cable that can be attached to the power-pin on the motherboard.
Can anyone tell me the pinout for the component 25 at page 15?

Its a 26 pin cable, but i have no luck so far finding any information on the internet.
Thanks in advance for all the response.
HP Z820 + Dual GPU detection issue / Quadro 6000
I have recently been unable to detect a second gpu on one of my workstations. Up untill recently, the workstation has been running perfectly with one Quadro 6000, on a single cpu.
A few days ago i plugged in a second identical graphics card, hooked up all the necessary wiring, and did not bridge the pair into a SLI configuration.
Upon launch, I get a message stating "941-PCIe Devices Installed in slots 3 or 4 with a single CPU." I am also asked to press F1 for Boot at this time.
I have reinstalled the GPU drivers while the second GPU was plugged in but for some reason, CPU-Z and my current software for 3D development Blender, are not seeing the second card.
I have also seen some technical readouts from CPUID that the maximum ammount of PCIe link width is x16. Does that mean that I can only use one GPU?
Thank you in advance!
Technical data:
Intel Xeon E5 2640
Mainboard HP 159B
BIOS 06/27/2012
RAM 32 Gb
TPM device not detected
I have brand new Z6 G4 and Z4 G4
I try to downgrade TPM device from TPM20_7.62.3126.0_to_TPM12_6.43.243.0.BIN. after reboot, windows not able to detect the TPM device. (in both models)
I try to troubleshoot by updating the BIOS version and clear the BIOS by removing CMOS battery - no positive result.
please suggest how to fix this issue.
Thx
Hang during Restart
The January and February Quality and Security Windows 7 Updates have caused a Restart issue on Sandy and Ivy Bridge processors.
My customer's Z210 has a i7-2600 processor. After KB4056894 was installed the PC hangs on restart about 60% of the time. The symptoms are black screen about the time that you'd expect to see the HP logo. The keyboard is inactive, no mouse cursor, fans running and power light on.
Removing KB4056894 resolves the restart issue. Others have found that the Feburary updates cause the same problem.
Some people have had success by disabling the C6 or C6 Report power states in their BIOS.
I've attempted to find those power state controls in later model HP Workstation bios setting but have not found them.
I'm hoping that someone can tell if those controls exist in the Z210 bios and if so how to find them.
Thanks,,, Dave

z620 > Updated BIOS > System will not start even to BIOS
RE:z620 / Xeon E5-1680 v2 / 64GB DDR3-1866 ECC / HP Z Turbo Drive 256GB + Intel 730 480GB + HGST 7K6000 4TB / HP OEM Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Here's an inconvenient event:
Over the past couple of months, the startup of this system had gotten very slow: it would start Windows and then have a quite long- 30_ seconds black screen. My thought was that the Win 7 installation on the HP Z Turbo Drive that was transferred from another z620 (2X E5-2690) was becoming "unhappy" in some way. I knew it was a temporary measure but it worked reliably and the drive actually showed still quite good performance, but
As I was preparing to reload the Windows and programs I noticed on the HP support site an update for the z620 BIOS, so I decided that I may as well have the latest.
I ran the BIOS .exe update in the usual way, which I've done three ot four times without problems. It backed up the current BIOS and then flashed the new version. I had a message that the update was successful.
However, the system quickly shut down on it's own and immediately restarted itself- without pressing the power button. This produced no error signals or monitor start, spinning the fans and liquid cooler up to top speed. I had to hold the power button for a hard shut down. I tried a Samsung 850 Evo (SATA) that had Win7 installed for the other z620, but no signs of life.
The CMOS was reset the button three times and I've had the CMOS battery out with no effect. I've removed all the drives in the hope of simply booting to BIOS. But, no luck > As soon as the power cord is reattached the system spins up to maximum.
I tried a technique listed by the HP virtual assistant that involved holding down the Win key+B 2-3 seconds and starting,. That is supposed to revert to the previous version BIOS but no luck. I had hopes for that technique as the BIOS update sequence showed the original BIOS had been saved.
So far, I have been unable to determine if the z620 has a BIOS recovery jumper. On z820's there is apprently a "crisis" jumper. There is something called "E16 ROM RCVRY ROM Recovery header/jumper", but I can't find the E16 designation on the system board layout. There is a set of three two-pin jumper blocks near the SATA ports including one that has three pins on the block and two two-pin jumpers in a stack, but I can't so far find out their use.
There were no passwords set.
This is complicated to diagnose as on one hand it appears to be corrupted BIOS and on the basis of the increasingly long startup, a gradual motherboard failure.
What's next?
Thanks!

Mounting of Z2 Mini to display
Hi all!
Could someone help me with mounting HP Z2 Mini to display?
I bought HP thin client mount kit ( http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-thin-client-mount-kit ), but cannot understand how to attach it to workstation.
On the bottom side of the Z2 I cannot see any holes for screws, only 4 plastic feet.
I think I can detach it, but also could not understand how to do this.
Could someone explain me how to attach mounting kit to the workstation? Or maybe provide a video.
Thank you!

HP z820 + Windows 2016 UEFI + NO eSATA ????
Hi
i purchased a PCIe RocketU 1144E eSATA card and the eSATA ports is not working but the USB 3.0 ports are.
I have succesfully installed the PLX driver + USB Driver + eSATA driver from here : http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series_RocketU1144E_download.htm
So i was thinking the card is faulty and it may be, however i have a 5.25 inch ( DVD size ) to 3.5 inch hdd bay which i have slotted underneath my DVD player on my z820. this allows me to slip in a 3.5 in hdd which connects to the motherboard via sata cable. Now this HDD Bay also has a eSATA plug on the side which also has a sata cable that i have connected to the motherboard.
So 1 x HDD bay with 2 sata cables conected to the motherboard, 1 for the eSATA and 1 for the 3.5 inch slot.
Now the 3.5 inch slot works as soon as oi slip in a HDD it comes up as E drive.
However the eSATA does not .
So now i have 2 different eSATA devices one connected via PCIe and the other via a sata cable to the motherboard and both will not work.
Can someone please help me i am confused as i am thinking this is a motherboard driver or a UEFI compatibility issue ???
Any suggestions is welcome
Will the E5-2683 v4 work in a z440?
I have a z440 with a E5-1630 v3. The z440 White Paper says the E5-2600 processor series is supported. I tried an E5-2683 v4. After pressing the power button the light came on and immediately went out. Repeated attempts to turn the system on resulted in the same thing.
t530 ThinPro 6.2 Network Manager won't allow Static IP Address
Good evening, we are testing the new HP t530 thin client for our applications. We have used HP thin clients back to the t5565, t510, t520, etc. and are pretty familar with the product.
The new version of ThinPro 6.2.0 build 22 on the test unit has the familiar options, but in the Setup -> Network option which loads the Network Manager, there is no option to enable IPv4 and the "Static Address Configuration" options are all disabled and greyed out.
I have pasted a screen capture of our network manager screen at:
https://www.screencast.com/t/3jR5s8BYjS
Setting the IP manually via /etc/network/interfaces does the trick, but our front-line staff isn't versed in how to edit configuration files and has been using this GUI for years to set static IPs on our devices.
Any thoughts on how to get those settings enabled?
z620 > Updated BIOS > System will not start

However, once started it was very fast.
As I was preparing to reload the Windows and programs to the Z Turbo, I noticed on the HP support site an update for the z620 BIOS, so I decided that I may as well have the latest.
I ran the BIOS .exe update in the usual way, which I've done several times on my five z-series systems without problems.
Forum poster Brian1965 suggested a power supply fault and testing with a DVM, but I'm not sure how to test the +5V rail. The power supply is also only about 1.5 years old.
The CMOS was reset the button three times and I've had the CMOS battery out with no effect. I've removed all the drives in the hope of simply booting to BIOS. But, no luck > As soon as the power cord is reattached the system spins up to maximum.

In case it was the problem, the Z Turbo Drive was transferred to z420_3 (E5-1607 V2) and then to z420_1 (E5-1620) and ran beautifully. From pressing the power button to ready is about 30 seconds. The Passmark Disk score in z420_1 was 13903. The z420_1 BIOS was 3.15 and only 3.6 or newer will recognize M.2, so I made the most careful BIOS update to 3.91 in history,..

Why Were z840 BIOS Revisions 2.39 and 2.40 Removed From Downloads?
A troubleshome Windows 10 update at the end of January forced me to rebuild the SYS partition from scratch. In the process of trying to avoid having to do that, I had updated all the drivers and the BIOS from the "Software and Drivers" page for z840, Windows 10. One of the downloads was SP84968 which contained the flashing utilities to bring the BIOS to rev 2.40. (I was running 2.38 at the time, and getting "Trusted Platform" errors in event log with MS advice to contact the hardware vendor for a BIOS upgrade to eliminate the security vulnerability.)
I am now running version 2.40, have rebuilt the SYS partition and went to check to make sure no further updates since that one (which I got and installed on 02/14/2018) had not been posted. Lo and behold, that SP - BIOS 2.40 update - had been removed from the downloads area, and so had v 2.39, both of which had, according to the release history in SP84968, were to address the TPI issues I was seeing in the Windows Event Log.
Why were they rescinded, and am I now supposed to somehow downgrade two revs and go back to a slew of TPI errors in the event log?
PA716A serial port adapter issues in Windows 10/Z240
Hi all. We've been using Z240 workstations running Windows 7 for many years, along with the serial port adapter (PA716A), which plugs into the motherboard via a ribbon cable. We've now started using Windows 10 (64 bit) and are having repeatable issues with this adapter there weren't present in Windows 7. The issue is that after restarting the PC we no longer receive data into the serial port. COM1 is still present in device manager but no data is received. The fix is to power down the computer, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on. Then the serial port starts working again.
We have this on multiple Z240 PCs but only those running Windows 10. I don't believe there's a driver for this serial port adapter as Windows just sees it as an onboard serial port.
Is anyone else seeing this? We can switch to using PCIe serial cards instead if we have to, but the serial adapter is a much neater solution.
Thanks.
HP Device Manager - Impossible to capture image
Hi there,
I am currently setting up a new HP Device Manager environment for a PoC.
I have set up everything, and everything works.
Sending tasks to the clients works fine.
I have configured 1 thinclient as example for capturing images etc.
But whatever I do, it does not woirk.
I used the cached and the non-cached version, but I just won't work.

HP Z600 Will no longer boot, 6 Beeps with Red Power Button
The problem I'm having is that my recently purchased Z600 Workstation is no longer booting, when I go to power it on the system shows no video output and just beeps 6 times in a row with an accompanying flashing red light on the power button, according to the HP manual for my system this indicates that there's a bad pre-load video error, what I'm confused by is the fact that I was using my PC, I went it the bios, changed a few options (an option on the PCIe slot for my GPU was turned to "Compute" mode) then I saved and restarted, now the system won't boot, I've reset the CMOS (with power cable disconnected) even removed the battery, nothing, it can't even load the BIOS, have I broken a software setting or has my motherboard really just died on me? Or is there something else I'm missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my second system to go this year, my motherboard on my other system still needs to be replaced......
Windows 10 Pro for Workstations being used on new Z4 machines?
I am looking at the HP Z4 newest workstations, and I see they come with the NEW OS - Windows 10 PRO for Workstations, not the standard 10 PRO . . . So I decided to see what was so different about it and how it will benefit me.
Has anyone had any experience with this OS or the Z4 product line yet?
SO, there is a Blog on the subject
https://blogs.windows.com/business/2017/08/10/microsoft-announces-windows-10-pro-workstations/
and in it states there are 4 main improvements. Great, however it goes on to say that in order to benefit, the hardware needs to meet the requirements in order to reap the full benefits of the software. The first one, I am not sure about, as we use our servers for our data, and not sure if it applies in that way, but the last 3 items all have hardware requirements that these Z4's do not seem to possess.
On top of that, this OS is also at a premium most likely $300 to $500 some reports say.
I am trying to find out if this new OS will truly be an improvement with using it on a NEW spec'd Z4 machine.
I have been told by my IT professionals that it will, but I don’t see how.
Enlightenment please.
