Fastest possible processor for HP Compaq 8000 Elite?

What is the fastest possible processor that can be installed on a HP Compaq 8000 Elite (AZ889AW), as specified on the HP website? The motherboard or graphic card should not be changed, only the processor.

Thanks for any suggestion in advance.

dc5800 parallel port

I've installed a ribbon cable / parallel port in a HP Compaq dc5800 using P1256 on the motherboard. The BIOS however does not show an option to activate nor does IRQ7 appear to be used.

Any ideas on how to activate the parallel port?

TIA

ESXi 6.5/6.7 on Z2 mini G3?

$

I'm trying to use my Z2 mini G3 entry unit as a home lab running ESXi. The device has a i5-6500 and a single 8Gig stick, and it has no dGPU.

I really enjoy the web interface so I tried vSphere hypervisor 6.5 and 6.7, using a flash drive as a installation media.

With 6.7 the system boots to ESXi loading interface but prompted the following

Shutting down firmware services…

Using "simple offset" UEFI RTS mapping policy

I tried 6.5U2 and 6.5a, both display a full black screen. I did some search but everyone seem to get a word or two on their screen. I'm running an ultrawide, but it should not be a problem. My monitor didn't auto sleep so it does output a full black instead of no output.

The flash drive is the average type you'll find in a college bookstore, but with only four or five formats it is probably fine…

Should I try updating the BIOS or anything? Anyone have a blog detailing the installation procedure on this particular machine?

XW8400 and Nvidia 6000 on win 8.1

This is not a question. I just wanted to post this for those that may need to upgrade their graphics card for this old workstation. Nvidia 6000 has 6gig of GPU memory. There is a new piece of software by Topaz (AI pixel) that requires a minimum of 4Gig GPU. That's why I upgraded.

These cards can be had on Ebay for around $130, used.

Be sure you by the HP version and not the M6000 which is a different card.

Installation:

1) make a windows restore point.

2) shutdown and unplug

3) put the new card in.

4) boot and install the drivers.

https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/130177/en-us for win 10 64 bit
For future reference, you need to go to the link  https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

NVMe in HP t620 PLUS

Hello,

I have a HP t620 PLUS.

I have  replaced the initial SSD M.2 Sata by Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe.

The Samsung was not recognized.

I bought this PCie NVMe adapter here

Adwits PCIe x16 to NVMe Adapter

With this passive adapter (no driver) I see the Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe during installation but not in the bios.

I install Windows 10 x64. No problem during install.

But when I boot, I have this message:

"No boot disk detected"

Is there a solution?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm sure that this is not the best point of contact for my question – but HP is doing the best to prevent „normal“ customer to contact them directly

We are planning to buy some HP ProDesk 600 G4 (4HM56EA) – the pricing on the HP WP says 775,00 € including tax -  but what a shame – no one is offering them for this price. Pricing on the market is around 850,00 € and above.

Some ideas about? Maybe someone of HP is reading that post – able to give an answer.

Regards, Günther

Z210 Workstation motherboard to retail case?

Is there any proprietary issues that would prevent me from mvong the motherboard to a retail ATX case?  In particular, mounting hole pattern?  I am aware of the non-removable IO shield.

Trying to get Samsung 850 EV SSD 250Gb to be the boot drive on HP Z840

I removed the 2nd CD/DVD (Read Only) drive and using a 2.5" to 3.5" carrier adapter installed the SSD.  The regular SAS/SATA drive bays are all full.  Using SATA cables I hooked the drive up, and I can see it, but  cannot make it the boot drive, because the boot settings of the BIOS are quite unclear, to me. At some point I had it working but it was really slow, possibly it was connecting as an ext USB drive, which is not what  I want.

I have tons of experience upgrading lots of machines (other than HP workstations) and it was always fairly simple to accomplish successfully. The HP Z840 is quite a different beast.

It boils down to these two specific questions:

1 Which SATA port should I connect to (as labelled on the motherboard) ?

2 How do I configure the BIOS setting for specific port (recommended in answer to above) so that I boot from the SSD ?

Thanks,

Dan

LSI 2308 firmware upgrade for HP Z840 ?

The boot sequence which starts with the LSI 2308 (MPT2 2014.03.12) is quite slow, and I'm wondering if a firmware upgrade is available, and whether that might speed up the process ?

I understand that Broadcom now owns LSI, so would their firmware update work for the HP Z840 ? If yes, is there a step by step guide for updating it ?

Thanks,

Dan

Graphics Card installation Workstation Z4G4

$

Dear community members,

I recently purchased an HP Workstation Z4G4 which came with no graphics card installed. I've been trying to boot the pc with an nvidia GF - GTX 650 but I keep getting the error code 3.3 (3 long white beeps, 3 short red ones) and no monitor signal. I already read in another support threads, that this can be related to the secure boot function of the pc. Unfortunately I do not possess another graphics card I could use to turn off the secure boot function. What should I do?

Thank you for your time

N.L.

P.S.: I tried 2 different pci ports for the card and it also works fine in my other desktop pc.

EliteDesk 705 G4 bios update

I am trying to update the Bios on this new pc and it will not work.

I downloaded sp92136

When I launch the updater it says

This firmware update is not compatable with this device

it gives me the option to create a USB flash drive and I do that and try to update manually from the BIOS screen by pressing ESC on boot and then selecting update system bios, but nothing ever happes, it just reboots again.

Any other suggestions?

Boot up rests at 1. screen, searches then for SSD

hello

all the problems started after I changed from the harddisk to a SSD (whereby all the content get cloned).

1. after power up, the boot process comes to the first screen and rests there until I press a key.

0.jpg1. Screen

It seems that also F9 and F10 have the same effect as the rest as it goes further to the second screen.

How to avoid resting on this screen and automatically boot beyond?

2. it then crawls everytime trough this process.

1.jpg2. Screen

How to avoid this and set the SSD as boot medium?

I set the BIOS back to the default settings but the behavior is still the same.

Thanks for any feedback and hints.
