E5-1680 not working in a z440

Has anyone run into any problem upgrading a z440 with a Xeon E5-1680 v3?  I believe it to be a supported CPU; however I could not get it to work in my z440, 500GB SSD, 64GBRAM, 3x8TB HDD.

I went through this a few months back with an upgrade to my z400 with a W3690 that never worked.

I’ve done the basics, BIOS upgrade, BIOS Factory Defaults, reseated all RAM modules.  I did get the following error:

929-Fatal MAC Error

CPU Error Detected on CPU 0- CPU HW Error

STATUS: 0xBE00000000800400

Misc: 0xFFFFFFFF810C667D

Address: 0xFFFFFFFF810C667D

Unlike what happened with the z400, the z440 attempted to boot, but would freeze or go to the “Attempt to Repair Screen” and then freeze.

Does anyone know if HP includes a list of compatible serial numbers as well as the processors themselves in the BIOS?

FYI I can no longer do any testing as I’ve returned the CPU.
