Hi everyone,
I have a Z620 that I'm not getting any display output and not sure if it's even passing POST. So far I've tried with both a Quadro M4000 and a Radeon R290 but to no avail. Not getting any beeps but after just about a minute, all the fans start spinning at 100%.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
There have been two recently released important BIOS upgrades for the Z420/Z620 and the Z820 workstations related to significant security risks on the Intel side. The Z420/Z620 motherboards are so similar they use the exact same BIOS, and the Z820 has a different installer that results in the same BIOS version number but via a different .bin file (the BIOS code to be uploaded into firmware). The .bin for file the Z420/Z620 is J61_0395.bin, and for the Z820 is J63_0395.bin. The installers are via SP98273 and SP98275, respectively.
HP has provided wrong installation instructions for the 3.95 upgrade for all 3 workstatons.... HP mistakenly integrated some of the BIOS upgrade instructions from the Z440/Z640 and Z840 workstations into the ZX20 instructions which if followed is a guarantee to fail.
A common topic here is doing BIOS upgrades from within BIOS as the safest way to go. There is an in-OS utility that can also be used but which carries significantly higher risks. For example, running this utility (built for XP/W7/W8) has resulted in bricked motherboards if it is run under W10. Supposedly that issue has been improved upon with later BIOS upgrade software.
The current HP mistakes: These are significant in that they apply to upgrading BIOS from within BIOS for 3.95, and the mistakes take away the safest way to do the upgrade. Here are the "Installation Instructions" as currently provided, from the HP drivers web site, and also from within the SP installer software itself:
HP's Installation Instructions (Z420/Z620 BIOS 3.95, SP98273 and Z820 BIOS 3.95, SP98275):
I recognized this wording from the instructions for upgrading BIOS from within BIOS for the Z440/Z660/Z840 workstations. If you follow these HP directions here is what you get:
The corrected directions are as follows:
1. Prepare a smaller sized USB drive (I use an 8GB USB2 drive, red Kingston DT101 G2 usually) by formatting it (long, not quick type of format), in FAT or FAT32 with default settings.
2. Download the proper SP... for us it is the one for Z420/Z620, SP98273. Have that on your desktop. Launch it, let it open a bit, then cancel the process.
3. Navigate into the root level of your C drive where you can see a SWSetup folder. Inside that will be the folder for the SP you cancelled out of. In there will be a folder DOS Flash. In that will be a file with name J61_0395.bin assuming you are not doing this for a Z820. Note that in HP's wrong Installation Instructions in #3 above they refer to "HPBIOSUPDREC" which is only present if you're working with a ZX40 workstation.
4. Copy out that .bin file and paste it onto the top level (root level) of your prepared thumb drive. Have the workstation fully off, and cold boot with that thumb drive in one of the USB2 ports. We use the top front one. DO NOT use a USB3 port, which will have blue rather than black plastic inside it.
5. Use your normal method of getting into BIOS, F10 Setup area, and navigate to the first tab, "File", and then down to "Flash System ROM". Hit enter, proceed, the BIOS upgrade will proceed automatically, and the workstation may shut down and restart by itself in this process. Don't rush things.....
6. I usually select Save Changes and Exit and power down the system as the last step. On your next cold boot you should be able to see the new 3.95 BIOS version stated in the bottom left corner of your boot screen early on.
This mixup has been out for quite some time.... it would be nice to get it corrected.
Hello,
In 2014 I purchased a HP 19 all in one PC 2113w and I just wanted to get the pricing for this computer in that year. I am trying to recover business expenses from my former employer and I need to know what I paid for it. I cannot find the receipt or info on it because I have moved and lost it in transition. Can anyone help?
Much appreciated

Hi there....... I feel betrayed! I paid $4000 4.5 years ago for my HP Workstation. I informed my sales/designer that I wanted a build to manage videography, in addition, to still images. She assured me that what I was purchasing would be the perfect build. I leapt, and for more than four years now, I have had few issues. A recent purchase of a $400 suite of imaging and video software (ACDSee) has become a nightmare. HP has assisted in BIOS updates, drivers, etc and the software company tech support (very knowledgeable) assisted in the install. He examined the system's properties and found the card installed with the original build was/is "NVIDIA QUADRO K3200M. The "M" stands for "mobile." This card, he indicated for me, is now six years old, which means it was well over a year old when I purchased my system. The question, since this was to be my "forever answer" to my video processing needs, is, is there any recourse? I cannot run the new software because that card does not contain sufficient memory. I am asking this community first because HP tech is saying "oh well. Perhaps a new computer." That was an off-hand comment with a promise to see if the card can be updated.... it cannot be. If anyone can steer me to what is right, if there is recourse, or if, as they have said "oh well, go back to your old program," I will appreciate those thoughts very much. I cannot afford to shell over another $4000 for a new computer. This was the one to last! Thanks, Susan
We purchased HP Z4 G4 with Thunderbolt 3 PCIe AiC. The Thunderbolt 3 card is not being detected always– sometimes it appears and sometimes it does not.
We followed all of the official instructions about the installation of the card - Win update, BIOS update (01.83 Rev.A), drivers update (17.4.76.300 Rev.A).
We tested the Thunderbolt 3 PCIe AiC with UltraFine 5K monitor. After several shut down and restarts, there was a connection. Then we restarted the Z4 G4 again and the connection was lost. We had to plug in and out the TB3 cable a couple of times and then the TB3 PCIe AiC appeared again and hence we had connection. After unplugging the TB3 cable the TB3 card seems to disappear from Device Manager.
We need your urgent assistance on how to fix this matter, as without stable functioning TB3 connection, the Z4 G4 is useless for the purpose it was purchased.
Below is the full configuration of the Workstation.

When I checked the amazon I just found 618266-003 or 004. I checked the Workstations forum and found some topics but can't do clear this subject. If I buy the 618266-004 motherboard can I use the my xeon e5 2687w CPUs or not? All sellers wrote in description compatible for " e5 2600 - e52620v2 " How I can clarify that ?

Just bought an HP Z2 mini G4 workstation with a Quadro P1000 installed. The display card should allow you to connect to up to four monitors but I found the workstation has only three DisplayPort output at the back. If I want to utilize the fourth output port from the display card, should I buy an extra MST hub or DisplayPort Port Flex I/O module?
After shutingdown the system for 1 week due to maintanance, the system cound not start up directly.
Currently it shows the 5 Blink and 5 beep code . still could not start the sytem.
Hi, to everyone
I have HP Z6 G4 workstation with lastet bios version, but all fans keep to work on max rpm`s almost all time when PC is on and its pritty loud and load on cpu, ssd, ram is almost zero.Even when i`m in bios fans again ramp up to very high rpm`s(5000-6000).
Bios version is 02.21 from this year, CPU:Xeon 5122, VGA: Quadro P4000, RAM:32 GB, M.2 SSD and one HDD 1TB with Windows 10 64bit.
Any solution?
Hi all, I have a HP Z800 which I purchased not too long ago. The machine itself averages 46-50 decibels of sound primarily due to the rear case chassis fans. I noticed that when I disconnected them from the board the system was as quiet as 20-35 decibels which is a significant improvement to the constant humming and buzzing of the memory and rear chassis fans together when I unplug the rear chassis fans I get error codes with 'press f1 to continue' prompt. I've replaced the rear chassis fans with one from a spare parts unit I have but the issue still persists. Should I change to liquid cooling or is there a software/BIOS fix that I can do. As a side note, the BIOS Thermal fan idle speed is on the minimum. The specifications of the system are as follows:
The issue when I unplug or remove the rear chassis fans is that the system becomes warmer as it accumulates heat from the two processors, graphics card and memory. If there's any solutions or suggestions to this issue please let me know.
Thanks
I have an HP DL380 Gen 9 server running windows server 16 in a disconnected lab environment. This server is also a domain controller. The server time drifts wildly day to day from actual time. The lab has a GPS clock for comparison. The time drifts as much as 2 minutes overnight.
My questions are
1) is this normal for server hardware in a disconnected environment.
2) are there real time clock boards available to keep time while the server is up?
3) if so, is there a way to identify if a clock board is installed?
Thanks

HP Support Chat is down for the moment. I'm just curious if anyone else had this issue and what was done to fix it?
Here are discrepancies that I find, updating the BIOS and Graphics driver

im looking for HP z800 PSU schematic does any one where i can get it ?
my psu is failing when it needs to take high wattage its an 1100 watt psu i need the schematic so i can start replacing capacitors ect ect if that wont work then i need to hack a atx power supply into the hp z800 power supply
Ya i know all these things but the thing is these psu's are now 9 years old and i know atx wont fit the chassis but the internal parts would still fit in the psu it self
