HP Z600 and Z800 Bios Update?

HP Z600 and HP Z800

I have read some have Geforce 2060 and 2080 in his system.

But i have test the AMD RX 5700 and the card did not work.

The new Geforce and Chips from AMD with Bios Update did not work?

Have test anyone the new cards in the HP forum, i have found some with the new cards.

The year goes to the end but comes in 2018 or 2019 new Bios update for the workstations?

Re: Upgrade graphic card

Really appreciate this discussion and HP expert Paul gave some valuable answers and advise here. I recently get the same HP Compaq Minitower 5800 Desktop computer donated to our centre to help train new immigrant basic computer skills. I am looking for a upgrade video card as well. I do not plan to use this as a hardcore gaming monster, just something within $CAD 50 to make the video solution better. The discussed AMD 6450 1GB/2GB seems a great option and Micheal already tested. However, what about Nvida GeForce GT730 2GB video card I had before? The PCI express 16 difenitely fits, however, as soon as I plug it in, my computer won't boot at all, not even able to boot to the F10 CMOS screen. I checked BIOS/CMOS settings and did a bit research, find no solutions about force the computer to use the integrated video chip first and then allows me to install proper driver from the original NVIDA optial disc comes with the actual video card. I checked the power supply, 300 W for sure sufficent for this in my experience. Any suggestions?  (Bought this GeForce GT730 2GB video card from https://www.ebay.ca/itm/392324875608)

BIOS 2.77 upgrade lost Audio

After upgrading the EliteOne 800 G1 to BIOS version 2.77 the system is no longer able to play audio.

Normally using Windows 10, I have checked everything and also tested with Linux livecd distros where audio is not playing too. This is just to rule out driver issues etc.

The system will show like audio is playing based on dynamic volume graphs, but there is no audio coming from built in speaker or neither if I plug in external headset or speakers into jack.

Inserting an external USB soundcard works of course with audio coming from external soundcard.

I updated the PC according to the SoftPaq SP96014 published, however I can see today it looked like the 2.77 BIOS has been pulled, since all of sudden only an old BIOS 2.70 from 2016 (SP77880) is available.

HPDM 5.0 - VNC Shadow Window Automatically Closes

Hi all,

I am running a test bench of HPDM Console 5.0 on a virtual Windows Server 2019 and HP T630 Thin Clients running HP ThinPro 7.1.0.

I have successfully sent tasks to enable VNC shadowing on the thin clients, and have double confirmed the setting has applied on the clients themselves though the admin control panel.

Whenever I send a task to shadow a device from the server console, it sends, processes, and succeeds. a few seconds later the VNC window pops up in the Windows taskbar, and over the top of the HPDM Console app. I see it come up and show me the default HP logo ThinPro screensaver for 1-2 seconds (even if the thin client itself is not displaying screensaver). After these couple seconds, the VNC window shuts itself down, and the VNC program disappears from the Windows taskbar.

I have tried sending task to update the agent on the clients, which succeeds. I have also tried multiple VNC settings on the clients and through the apply settings task. Sometimes I get a "successful" shadow task and see the window for 2 seconds, other times nothing pops up at all.

Suggestions please?

Thanks! Nic.

Z820 graphic card upgrade

After following the recent @Drawn thread regarding graphics card upgrading concerns in our workstations, it got me thinking about upgrading my original Quadro K6000 to an NVIDIA RTX to take advantage of Redshift RTX Acceleration.

passmark2.JPG

I can't upgrade my dual E5-2670 v0 2.60 GHz processors (Z820  v1 motherboard) but I'm thinking a new RTX  card might still improve rendering speed with an optimized RTX renderer. Here's my questions:

  1. Based on my slow dual 2.60 GHZ, I'm leaning toward the RTX 2070 Super. Anyone think there's a benefit to a higher end or lower end RTX?
  2. My Quadro K6000 , like I believe all Quadros are, is a "blower" style card, meaning hot air is blown out the rear of the card. These NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards come in both blower and axial fan versions. The dual and triple axial fans are a lot quieter than the blower versions but instead of blowing the hot air outside the case, the axial fan cards blow the hot air into the case.  The Z820 comes with a PCI Retainer panel which covers the I/O slots. I'm only going to use one GPU inside the Z820. Do you think the air circulation inside the PCI Retainer panel is sufficient to support an axial fan RTX, or should I stick to a blower style RTX card?

Critical level on HP t520 thin client

Hello,
I have a classrooom with 32 HP t520 thin clients.
I have installed the last OS Win10IoT 14WWETDJ601 Multi language NA & EMEA (September 2017)
All is OK for the installation.
I have activated HPWF but I have this message:
"write filter cache size has reached critical level"
The problem comes all time : someone works on the thin client or not.
How can I solve this problem?
What's the difference between HPWF and UWF?
I have to activate HPWF or UWF?

Citrix Receiver 13 on HP t5565

Hi all,

We've got a bunch of t5565 thin clients with ThinPro OS installed and wanted to use them to connect to Citrix XenApp. However, after upgrading the OS and Citrix Receiver to latest version available (4.4.1 and 13, respectively), the client refused to connect XenApp server no matter what I did. After quick debugging it seems that the problem is in /usr/bin/store_wrapper.sh file, which in its turn tries to call `sudo hptc-zero-login --fullscreen`, the executable which is not present in the system. It seems that the latest version of Citrix receiver softpaq available for t5565 on ThinPro (CitrixReceiver-13-TP-44-9-x86.xar) doesn't have hptc-zero-login package bundled into it; however the same file for Smart Zero Core (CitrixReceiver-13-TPZ-44-9-x86.xar) does have it inside. Also `apt-get install hptc-zero-login` tells that this package is referenced by another package, but mising in the system. It looks to me like a bug, so is there any suggestions on what to do in such case? May be there is a place with older softpaqs available? Thanks in advance

HP ZBook x2 G4, (Dreamcolor-) Screen is very unblurred

$

Hello everybody,

yesterday I got my new mobile workstation, a HP ZBook x2 G4 (2ZC13EA) with Windows 10 x64 Pro. But the (4K Dreamcolor-) screen is very blurred. That is in all kind of explorer windows, browsers, settings, desktop icons, ...

The screen resolution is unchanged at its native resolution on 3840 x 2160 and the scale settings have been changed from 300% (default) to 200%. I also changed the scale settings to other parameters but it is all the same. Another point are the cleartype settings. It also active and does not changed the screen.

Yesterday I migrated all my datas from the old client to the new zbook, so the difference is very extreme to see. My other external screen is really sharp and the Zbook very blurred.

How can that be? The dreamcolor display is one of the best screens on the market, so I don't understand it.

Has anybody other tips for me? Would be very great.

Thanks!

Zbook 17 G5, Replace DVD drive with 2nd Hdd/SSD

$

I have got a Zbook 17 G5. I would like to add a secondary HDD instead of the icluded DVD-Drive.

There are many options for convenient hdd caddys available for the ZBook 17 G1&G2 (e.g. here, here& here).

However, all of them specify that they are compatible only with models G1&G2, not with G5.

I like the above options, because they already include a faceplate which closes the opening caused by removing the DVD drive. But it seems such an option is not yet available for the G5. I already found out I can buy a fitting bezel/faceplate from HP. But what exact part do I need to buy to securely attach a 2nd SSD?

(and are 1TB SSDs supported as 2ndary hard drives?)

Thanks for any help!
