Hello, IT people,
I bought a used HP Z600 from eBay less than 2 years ago, the setup was
HP Z600 2x 2.26GHz Quad-Core L5520 32GB RAM No HD No OS
I added to it Two SATA hard drives, one is Crucial MX300 275GB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive and the other one is a 2.5 hard disk, also I added to it an EVGA GeForce 8400 GS Passive 1024 MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Graphics Card DVI/HDMI/VGA,
I used it as a home lab, and I haven't used it that much, maybe 10 hours a week.
after about 6 months of the purchase date the machine sometimes when I power it on, the fans goes crazy at its fastest speed and nothing on the screen, the workaround for this issue was to unplug the power cord and replug it again.
Then I moved to another state, about a month ago I was trying to power on the machine but it won't power on and it beeps about 4 intermittent beeps, I tried to seat the memory and all the cables but no luck, then I searched on the web and I found out that it is faulty power supply, I replaced the power supply with one that I ordered from eBay,
Now the machine powers on and sometimes boot to the OS and sometimes it hangs, I checked all the capacitors by eye and none are leaking, I realized that one of the chipsets with Intel mark on it heats up within seconds of operation where I can't keep my finger on it for more than 3 seconds, but sometimes in the situation where the fans go crazy the chipset won't heat up.
Note: the power button led is always green.
has anyone faced this issue before?
