Boot failure

Hi community,

I have a strange issue with some of our , HP Compaq Elite 8300 Microtower-PCs.

We have several PCs in our company, about 20 have been upgraded to Windows 10. Early test were performed, all good.

Now, some of them (about 10) started to fail boot, no BIOS boot, no HDD boot, black screen.

Some of the affected PC announced the failure with a Blue Screen, hyperventilating fans, etc…

We can’t figure out what is going on, but so far: it is not the CPU, PSU, RAM, HDD. We did several tests.

It must have to do with the mainboard. Change of mainboard went well.

When we take out the CPU/RAM e.g. it starts beeping when powering on the PC.

So mainboard is not really dead? Can it be like “deactivated”?

Here are the facts:

  • No Warranty anymore
  • Win8 compatible sticker on the PC
  • Issues after days or weeks after upgrading to Win10

Has anybody an idea what is happeing? We don’t have spare parts anymore, this will be a problem, if some others fail.
