Hi eveyrone. Thank you or viewing this post. Here is the issue:
The original bios of my Z220 was K51 V01.02. There was no option for "Stringent Password" in the bios. So I upgraded the bios to the latest one: K51 1.84A. Yes, I get the "Stringent Password" in the bios now but there is an annoying issue after the upgrade. Now every time I rebooted the computer I could hear the sudden lost of power for the HDD. There was a "DING" sound for the HDD. This was an obvious sudden lost of power symptom. But if I did a shutdown, the HDD would just spinned down smoothly without a sound! It happened only when I REBOOT the PC or exit from configuring the bios or did a CTRL+ALT_DEL. I did not have this prbolem with the orginal bios of V01.02. So my question: 1, Is it something to do with the bios settings? If yes, which bios option would affect this? 2, Can I flash back to an old bios version without this annoying issue but have the "Stringent Password" feature? I am afraid my HDD will die soon if this happens often as I need to restart my PC very frequently for some testing jobs. And I have to SHUTDOWN the PC and then press the power button in order to avoid this now . It was all good previously. Thank you!
