I have replaced E5-2620 v4 with E5-1650v4. One has TDP 85W and another 140W. I run some CPU benchmarks to see how it goes after replace and discovered, that temperature of the CPU reached at its max. 85°C with E5-1650v4 and abt 60 with E5-2620v4. In idle state both have around 28-30°.I am aware of more heat generated by 1650v4. But that silly fan on cpu heatsink wont go faster under load as is usual with my previous desktop. I read it is issue on many stations and in BIOS it can be either ramped up or down. If I buy aftermarket cooling solution, i dont get it connected on MOBO, since it has 6 pins. how can i now solve this problem? installing additional suction fan on the heatsink from the other side of the heatsink (to pick up hot air and transport it away)?

 

to be honest, this syntetic test was using all 6/12 cores on 100% and this will not happen with games

in my Z640, theres DDR4 RAM installed in two slots. In total 16 GB, what is way too low. i am going to upgrade. What features must be on board?

- same speed like original one

- registered

- unable to see if buffered or unbuffered in almost all offers I see

 

I understand the safest way would be to get same modules like installed already, but this will not be the case.

 

and is it better to install in one slot 16 GB or in two slots 2x8 GB?

Hi guys

 

I'm currently working on builds for our T530/T540/T640 and T655 Elite thin clients. All are running Windows 10.

T530 Windows 10 IOT LTSC 2016

T540/640 Windows 10 IOT LTSC 2019

T655 Windows 10 IOT LTSC 21H2

 

All have been patched to April 2024 cumulative updates using the DISM method (That's a nightmare to do in itself, but for another post!!)

 

All come pre-loaded with HP Ram Disk manager, and I am using the latest HP Write Manager version 1.9.50.

 

Anyhow; I have noticed the HP RAM disk for these devices is not working. I have the Z:\ drive set for 768Mb and all the time the HP Write Manager is disabled it shows correctly with no problems...

 

But as soon as HP write filter is enabled the RAM disk errors and no longer displays correctly.

Looking back this seems to be an ongoing problem as we checked a build from years ago using an un-patched Windows 10 IOT 2019 LTSC with HP write manager 1.7.2 and that had the same issue.

 

In fact I had to go all the way back to a T530 with original 2016 LTSC and HP Write Manager 1.5 to see the RAM disk working as intended with no errors.

 

There is no update for HP RAM Manager in HP update to download, so how do we get this fixed please?

I don't know how to explain the issue but it is regarding the display. lIke I am working on a document and then i minimize the document and a new window but i can still see the trace if the previous window opened. I think the picture will explain more

I'm looking to upgrade my trusty Z800. I have four internal drives and want to move two SAS and one SATA drive into the new machine along with an SSD root drive (which I'll be buying new with the machine).

Looks like a Z820 will do this but a Z840 only has two drive bays, is that right?

What about new Z class machines, do any have four bays that can be configured as SAS or SATA?

Hello,

We have HP Z238 Microtower Workstation. We have observed that for last few months startup takes approx 20-30 minutes (after shutdown or after restarting the machine).

Installed OS is Windows 10 Pro.

Process stuck at "HP SURE START" screen and it's not issue of windows update, we have confirmed that. 

 

Please guide me if someone has faced this issue.

Kindly inform if any other information is required.

Then when I exit from there it will say an operating syt wasn’t found ! And BootDevice not found .. please how do I install an operating system on my hard disk ??

Hi

I've recently set up the PC from new but the wake up time from sleep is longer than I'm used to.

Is there a way to speed this up please?

I've currently have the screen turn off set at 15 mins and the device sleep to 45 mins

Hi

long story short I have an HP Z230 SFF workstation with an i5 4570 and I have to use my iGPU's encoding capabilities because my discrete GPU does not support any, so I accessed the BIOS and under advanced tab I activated Intel Integrated Graphics and set its dedicated VRAM and I have no idea why I did this, I also changed Primary VGA Adapter (not sure of the name) from my Nvidia GPU to Intel's HD graphics and as a result the iGPU is considered to be the primary adapter which means when I turn on my PC it gives me a blackscreen on my monitor which is connected to my discrete GPU until the PC boots into windows then I get a picture on my monitor, this obviously barred me from accessing the BIOS to revert the changes because I could not see what was happening. I did reset the BIOS and managed to access the advanced tab however I can no longer see the option to choose my discrete GPU as the primary adapter, it's gone! I can only enable or disable the integrated graphics and set its vram amount, if I keep it disabled obviously my discrete GPU become the primary adapter and my PC boots normally. the option was right below the integrated graphics toggle but it's gone. is it supposed to happen? if I connect a monitor to the motherboard and access the bios while the iGPU is enabled will the option reappear?
