BSOD when I sysprep ProOne 400 G2 with Windows 10

Hi

I have an issue I have been working on for the last couple of weeks without any result. I have two HP ProOne 400 G2 that makes Blue Screen of Death whenever I run Sysprep on them. I have successful installed and sysprep the computers with Windows 8.1, but with Windows 10 it crash everytime I try.

PRIMARY_PROBLEM_CLASS:  0x124_GenuineIntel_PCIEXPRESS

I guess it has something to do with a bad driver for a device connected to the PCIExpress BUS, but not sure what to do from here.

I get the following from my BSOD analysis:

Windows 10 Kernel Version 10586 MP (2 procs) Free x64

dc7800 "smart card reader not present" during POST

$

Hi,

I've got a dc7800 Small Form Factor system. It was working fine but after a reboot it won't start up normally anymore. The black POST screen appears, RAM testing starts to count up and then I see and error about "system options not set". After less than a second, a blue window in the middle of the screen displays the message "smart card authentication" and below that, "smart card reader not present".

From a bit of reading it seems like a BIOS problem but I can't figure out how to really reset the CMOS and get things working again. I've tried removing the CMOS jumper and booting the system, removing the power cord and CMOS battery for 10 minutes, and have tried putting a BIOS .bin file on a FAT32 USB key in an attempt to use the BIOS recovery option, none of which has worked.

Is there a way to do one of the following:

- force the CMOS defaults to reset and remove the configuration that requires the smart card authentication?

- force a BIOS recovery, with a key combination or by using a different jumper or jumpers on the motherboard?

I see various other jumpers and pads on the motherboard like "ROM RCVRY" and the E15 Boot Block Recovery Header but scant information about how these might be used to solve the problem.

It seems to me that the hardware is fine as it powers up and displays the POST screen. It's like a BIOS setting has been reset to require a smart card, even though there isn't one, nor even a smart card reader, in the system.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Environment:  T620 Thin Client (Linux OS);  Vmware Horizon View Dedicated Windows 8.1 session.

Issue:  USB Mass Storage (1 Tera Byte) or Memory Stick (8Gig) not showing up in Windows File Explorer.  USB Drives are being mounted 'Locally' and files are available via Linux OS (/media/[Drive Name]) but are not being 'Passed Through' to Horizon View/Windows 8.1 environment.

I've verified options in USB Manager and Regeditor but no luck so far.  Support case is now open with HP.  Any suggestions.

Thanks

What kind of keys and switches are on the KU-1156 keyboard? The part number is listed as GM321AA#ABA. I think it is either Cherry MX Blue or Brown, but I'm not sure.

HPDM Installation issues - Server service will not start, error 1067

I am deploying HPDM at my clients running HP thin clients. One client, I am running the software from a Windows 7 machine - this works great. However I have two other clients running Server 2012, and its not working so great.

Everything seems fine during the install, but when I go to load the Console it cannot connect to the server. Check the tray, server isnt running. Will not start from the tray. Go to Services, start the service, get a 1067 error "The process terminated unexpectedly."

I was wondering if it was maybe an issue with PostgreSQL, so I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it using Microsoft SQL, but I get the same problem.

There is no log file for the server, but I have one for HPDMWrapper, and the latest entries are appended below.

HPDM - Cannot shadow, cannot update firmware, HP T5540

Unrelated to my other HPDM post, at the client where I have HDPM "working" I am having issues using it to do the one thing I needed it to do - Shadow.

Task log:

2016-01-28 13:59:40	Successfully sent task to the Device Management Gateway
2016-01-28 14:00:02	Task has been retrieved by the Agent.
2016-01-28 14:00:04	Failed to execute vnc task.

2016-01-28 14:00:04	ErrorCode: 14004112, Error Detail: Set VNC password failure.

I didn't set a vnc password, so i decided to set a password and try again. I get the same result. If i go and manually use a VNC viewer to attempt to log onto the thin client, it says "VNC authentication failed"

I figured maybe I should update the firmware on the unit, and well what do you know that doesnt work either:

2016-01-28 14:08:37	ErrorCode: -1421, Error Detail: Failed to connect to FTP server.

The thing about it is, I never even configured it to use FTP, so why is it attempting to use FTP? The SMB tested fine, the directory is accessible on the network by everyone, etc. This is getting frustrating because I have spent basically all day installing and configuring HPDM across 3 networks and so far I have met very little success. I can Shadow my newer thin clients - HP t520 machines - but I still have a good dozen HP t5xxx series and these seem to be giving me great trouble.

drivers and firmware for MP4 Digital Signage Player?

I'm unable to locate support for the MP4 Digital Signage Player (the one based on the T610).  Product number is D3K57UT.

I can find support for later models, like the 4200 and 8000 series, but nothing for this earlier (2014) model.  A few months ago, this was available.  I've tried searching every way I know, and have come up with nothing but product info, no driver/OS support.

HPDM 4.7 and t610 thin client with the new ThinPro5 image.

I upgrade the HPDM 4.5 SP4 to HPDM 4.7 with no issues.

I do this on the t610 <xarinstall /etc/tmp/thinpro_thinstate_upgrade_patch-1.0-all-4.0_4.1_4.2_4.3_4.4-x86-SQ.xar>

and then I Update t610 ThinClients With Image T6X51007ThinPro 5. I can capture the image after this install with no issues.

I push the second image Update t610 ThinClients To Image T6X52011ThinPro 5. I then attempt to Capture the image from here and I get this message on the screen on the t610 thin client.

ftp-capture window on the t610 Thin Client:

I downloads and installed Disk Optimization 1.0 on the t610 Thin Client

X Terminal windows on the t610 Thin Client.

type xarinstall /etc/tmp/Disk-Optimizations-all-5.1-x86-SQ.xar

the Capture is occuring but in a small window.

Is the a real process or order that these need to be installed.

Also do I need to manually do this on every Thin Client Device.

I have some locations with over 500 Thin Clients deployed.

Can anyone help?

PCI Simple Communications Controller / Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq dc5800

I recently upgraded my system from Windows 7 Pro 32 bit to Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit.  The Simple Communications Controller does not have the drivers installed.

The Problem is:

PCI Simple Communications Controller

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29D4&SUBSYS_281E103C&REV_02\3&21436425&0&18

The drivers for this device are not installed.

I have checked the downloads at HP and either they do not accept Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit or are not appropriate for this machine.

I have tried several internet solutions and they have failed.

My computer is a HP Compaq dc5800 Microtower

Any assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated

Hi, yesterday I bought a video card for my computer. But when I placed it on the board, first it got stucked on the HP loading screen and when I press the ESC key to enter bios setup nothing happens. Tried restarting for like 3 times and the same problem occured, so I tried removing it and placing it back in and it gave a different response than the first attempt, It beeped 6 times then didnt open at all.

I am running a P6-2112D board with i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz with Bios version CAR_716.ROM vCAR7.16

And the Video Card that I bought is an Asus 2 GB DDR3 128bit GT 730

z800 will not sleep after Windows-10 upgrade.

Hello,

I have an z800. After the Windows-10 upgrade the workstation would not go into sleep mode.

I tries to sleep for about 5 seconds and then powers back up.

I was able to fix this problem once by changing the bios setting from exended to normal in power savings.

However since a Windows 10 update it no longer works in sleep mode.

How can I fix this problem?

It is a setting in the bios that needs to be set.

I tried default settings without success.

-Thanks in advance.

usb boot problems on RP5800

I have an issue with RP5800, bios 2.25 and ME fw 7.1.10.1065

This machine has no OS installed.

I created a linux image on usb pen drive via win32diskimager.

The image is a raw image, so the usb content cannot be seen under windows (if you insert it, windows will ask to format the pen drive).

If this pen drive is inserted in RP5800, the boot order menu doesn't show any usb (I checked in bios, and it's enabled).

If this pen drive is inserted in another computer (I tried Intel NUC and different notebooks, even VirtualBox), no issues at all.

Why doesn't RP5800 recognize the pen drive?

I cannot modify the image type on the pen drive, as it's an image developed by our R&D team.

Z-Turbo issues

I just installed the HP Z-turb into my z820. I had made an image restore of my system and wanted to restore the image to my Z-Turbo.

I tried to restore the image directly to the Z-Turbo. However, after the process was completed and the computer re-started, Windows failed stating there was a start-up issue. I selected the Diagnostic and Repair option and got a dialog box stating that "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically."

So, after reading online, I went back and restored the original system disks to the Z-Turbo - basically starting from scratch. After a couple of hours (really - this is asinine, the computer shut down and restarted at least 5-6 times during this installation - an incrediblt PITA!). I also found the HP FAQ for the Z-Turbo that stated the following -

How do I reimage my system with the HP Turbo Drive?

If the HP Turbo Drive is purchased as an AMO kit, HP recommends as a standard procedure that the machine be restored

to the factory configuration prior to restoring the system. That would mean the HP Turbo Drive would need to be

removed prior to restoring the system with restore media or HDD recovery. If the system is purchased with the HP Turbo Drive, it would not need to be removed prior to restoring the system. If the HP Turbo Drive is being added as a storage device / data drive, then the process involves following the installation guide. The summary of the process is to ensure the correct BIOS installs the card, and to power on the desktop.

So, after suffering through this incredibly tedious process, I then did another system restore. (I might add that Win7 doen't offer the option of "not partitioning and reformatting the drive the system is to be restored to".) So now I've completed the restore and I re-boot my z820 only to see the same DAM error message that Windows Start-up is F____ed up - again.

What's going on? I have a ton of software installed on my system and to have to re-install all of it - again (I had to do this two weeks ago) would be incredibly INFURIATING!

I'm just about ready to chuck this HP and go solo on my Mac Pro (which I might add I installed a Samsung XP941 PCIe SSD - the exact same one that's installed in the Z-Turbo, with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER - just by using Carbon Copy Cloner. I didn't even have to install OS X on the "virgin" XP941 after I installed it in my Mac Pro - just cloned the backup to the SSD - simple as that and it's been running like a champ for the past six months!)

UPDATE -

I ended up buying Acronis TrueImage 2016 and was able to clone the hard drive to the Z Turbo - and it's working, finally!
